Welcome to the Mother's Milk in Art poster competition for Australian art and design students.

To support the community in these uncertain times, we invited Art and Design students from Holmesglen Tafe, to design a piece of art, digital, photography or different media with the theme ‘Mother’s Milk in Art’ and what breastfeeding means to them in 2020.

Entrants were narrowed down to 8 finalists and after collating votes from our social media pages and Healthcare Professionals survey, we are please to announce the winners;

First Place - Madeline Hughes

First place and winner of $600: Congratulations to the winning artist, Madeline Hughes, who created this beautiful piece of breastfeeding art, that reflects the unity of motherhood and breastfeeding - no matter your race, religion or colour, mums are united in giving the best for their babies, something we are passionate about here at Medela and that is so powerful now, more than ever.

A word from the Madeline on the inspiration behind her work: "Now more than ever, mothers need to know they are not alone in their journey with breastfeeding. At times, breastfeeding can seem isolating and can feel laborious, but I wanted mothers to know they are never alone - there are mothers everywhere who are going through a similar experience."

Runner Up: Christopher Brandl Lopez

Congratulations to the runner up, Christopher Brandl Lopez who said his was inspired by the symbolism of the tree of life, "representing the nature of natural progress and a child’s journey through life and how they grow roots, flourish, and will soon be strong enough to survive on their own."
