Happy Father’s Day! Thanks for Being Such a Great Dad, Joseph!

Joseph and I have always had a strong teamwork mentality when it comes to breastfeeding. We are both very pro-the-melon and both believe in my “anytime, anywhere” view.

Obviously, he can’t psychically breastfeed, but, he always tries to assist me where ever possible. This has been especially true in those first few months when it feels like all you do is feed...

Here Are a Few Examples of How He Supports Me

Joseph brings me water. By the way, why is it that, every time we feed, we suddenly are dying of thirst? Haha!

He helps with blankets, pillows or that TV remote that’s just out of reach (yes, we've all been there).

I try to go to bed early a few nights a week to catch up on the sleep that I’m missing at other times. Joseph helps by bringing Jnr Smalls over to me when he wakes up so I can get comfortable and set up with my pillow.

He is very good at encouraging me to eat healthy food. I am shocking with sugar snacks and he knows how much better it is for me and Jnr Smalls when my supply is based on a well-balanced diet.

This time around, he’s started taking Small out to play. Or, he will read books to him. This means that I’m not pulling Small around the house during a feeding.

At the end of the day, he just supports me. He tells me all the time how proud he is of me and how great I am at mum life. This is my favourite type of support!

Going Out is Not Always Easy as a Breastfeeding Mum

Fortunately, I have a system. When I know that I’m going to be going out – either with my friends or to a work event – I use the Medela Freestyle pump to express and then store the milk in the freezer.

I wish we did this more. Feeding both my smalls is the most rewarding part of motherhood. The bond that is created and the connection is truly magical.

Not only do I have two beautiful small humans, but, I am bloody lucky to have such a supportive and loving Baby Daddy.
