Mum's Journey - Introducing Jacinta and her babies

Jacinta is a Content Creator and Mum to 4 beautiful young children she affectionately has termed her Gumnut Babies.

The simply amazing Jacinta recently had a chat with us, talking all things Motherhood and Medela.

Let's start with the basics. What's it like being a mum?

Being a mum is the hardest my most rewarding job. I wouldn’t change it for the world.

We know you love Medela products, tell us which is your favourite and why

The Freestyle Hands-free Breast Pump as I love that I am able to use it while I am doing things for my other kids or housework.

Medela's Input: The Freestyle Hands-free is a gamechanger for mums who find themselves overwhelmed with the lack of hours in a day. We are so pleased there is now a pump in our range that gives mums back the precious gift of time 💛

Are you comfortable with feeding in front of others with the new Freestyle Hands-free Breast Pump?

Yes I am constantly using it as I need to increase my supply.

Tell us what life was like with the transition from 1-2, then 2-3 babies

I found it pretty easy transitioning from 1-2 babies compared to 2-3 babies. I think that was the age gap. My eldest is 5 years older than my 2nd. She was more independent. But when my 3rd came I had a lot of mum guilt as there is 21 months between them and he was still so dependent on me but I had to put feeding my youngest first. But we eventually got into routines and things got easier.

Medela's Input: Mums, remember that you are still a woman and deserve to take some time for yourself. Mum Guilt is very much real, but your babies will always love you no matter what 💛

Breastfeeding. We all know it can be hard but tell us why you found it hard and how you overcame those issues.

It can be so hard at times, each of my breastfeeding journeys have been different. While I faced difficulties with my first two breastfeeding experiences, I was so grateful I was able to successfully exclusviely feed my third baby. And now with my fourth, I am pushing on and doing everything I can to solely breastfeed again, with lots of supports in place.

Medela's Input: Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. You are not alone, and you should never, ever feel that way 💛

When did you decide to start your pumping journey? Before or after birth? When did you get your first pump and why?

I decided before birth and I am glad I did as I need to express to help increase my supply. This is actually my first Electric Pump, in the past I have only used the Silicone ones.

Tell us how you like to relax and why it is important to practice self-care when you are mum.

I like to sit and have a coffee while watching TV shows. It is important as being a mum can be so exhausting and overwhelming that at times you just need those few moments to yourself.

Tell us three words you would use to describe Medela.

Practical, Convenient, Supportive.

If you can give the mums out there reading this interview one piece of motherly advice, what would it be?

If people offer you support take advantage of it, as hard as it can be to let people help you. It is definitely needed at times.
